Kazakhstan, with its industry being the locomotive sector and having a high potential of rapid development, has a foreseeable increase in its future energy demand. While the major supply of its energy is provided by fossil fuels, the country possesses an extensive potential of renewable energy sources, especially wind energy. ESPM has studied the wind potential in South Kazakhstan Region around Chimkent and Turkistan, based on the existing meteorological conditions. The possibilities both state and private investments is studied for a potential development of 150 MW of installed power.
